What is GPRC?
GPRC stands for Guaranteed Peer Reviewed Content. It is a quality label of the Association of Educational and Scientific Publishers (GEWU) that guarantees that a publication has undergone a peer review process in line with international academic standards.
With the GPRC label, you immediately know: this work has been thoroughly reviewed, validated, and meets the highest academic quality standards.
A visible mark of quality
Publications carrying the GPRC label display the official logo in their colophon. This serves as a clear and reliable signal to readers, researchers, and institutions that the work has been independently evaluated by experts in the field.
The label guarantees transparency, quality, and academic integrity.
Why the GPRC label?
With the GPRC quality label, GEWU aims to contribute to the further development of a strong and reliable Flemish academic publishing landscape. More specifically, the label supports the development of the Flemish Academic Bibliographic Database for the Social Sciences and Humanities (VABB-SHW).
In this way, GPRC enhances the visibility and recognition of high-quality publications in Flanders and beyond.
How is the label awarded?
A publisher using the GPRC label must demonstrate that the publication has successfully undergone a full peer review process in accordance with internationally accepted standards.
This is done through a transparent dossier, prepared in consultation with the Authoritative Panel (VLIR), including:
- a table of contents of the publication
- the affiliation of the reviewers
- a chronological overview of the review process
- at least two independent review reports
- a formal confirmation of approval by the reviewers
How can you identify GPRC publications?
All publications with the GPRC label are listed on the website gprc.be, where you can easily search by author, title, publisher, or year.
In addition, each publication carries the GPRC logo in the colophon — your guarantee that the work complies with international peer review standards.
